Apple's iPod is perfect for virtual shoplifting. "When Apple introduced the iPod, the company was aware that people might use it to rip off music from the Net or friends' machines. But it is unlikely that Apple imagined people would walk into computer stores, plug their iPod into display computers and use it to copy software off the hard drives."

Allways looking for short and
Allways looking for short and comprehensive txt to describe the potential of Groove. Ashok Hingorani has written a very nice one:
What is Groove ?
The ultimate P2P platform, because it goes beyond simple file sharing to managing any content, data, images, files, instant messaging voice and even video in a single platform.. Groove empowers the user by creating (persistent, private) shared spaces located on your own hard disk and not dependent on Servers, WebSites, Complex administration and the attendent costs. Users can invite selected members to participate in the activities in the space, Members offline when any new content is added will be automatically synchronized when they do come on line.
Why is it so important, to everyone
Groove stores all information in a safe, encrypted, XML format that will be the way the world shares data tomorrow. Because of it's hooks into .NET, integration with MS Office products and connections to your Database, Groove promises to be the personal Information Manager we have all dreamed off, and the bridge to all other systems we might use.

Been to a conference thuesday with Machteld about IT and the Building industry, ODM, BAS, PAIS, ERP,ICIS, PDM, IGBI, EDM, EC, etc etc, (just too many shortterms for people to grasp) No talk about XML however, suprised me. Nice detail: Mag was the only woman amongst a audience of 40 men, allways good marketing , with URK it even works better ;-)

"Sim City is the first example of that, in some ways: "We understand how little self-organizing systems work, so I can create a little software program that will simulate that on the screen, and it'll be fun, and I'll do it as a deliberate work of culture, not as a model of doing it in a lab."

"I was thinking that what the Web needs is a big neo-cortex. There are all these very specialized smart, focused tools being developed, and data that's being mined, and collective intelligence on specific problems. But we're not as good yet at, not just filtering all that stuff, but figuring out what belongs connected to what else. Google is, in a way, the beginning of that. It's letting the Web solve that pattern itself, looking at patterns and links of what should be connected to other things. But we need more of that kind of synthesis going on. I think XML is going to be a great platform for that. Once you have clear, simple markup for describing big chunks of data, it should be easier to do that as well. "

"Isn't Everquest supposed to have this economy that's the size of a small country? As these worlds that were designed to let people play Dungeons and Dragons in a virtual, networked environment, as they get more and more users, and as they develop an actual economy within that world, and as it translates into real-world dollars -- as people sell their characters on eBay and stuff like that -- are we actually, through that gaming design, is there an exaptation that leads to what the Internet was supposed to look like, a virtual world with commerce, a William Gibson-like system?"

Mmmm, Will this be the end of any real competition in the market of Architectural CAD Software ? If the government approves, Autodesk hopes to complete its US$133 million-purchase of Revit Technologies by the end of July. IMHO Revit is the most innovative and intuitive CAD software around , very powerfull stuff.

Grrrrr, Network problems on the office allday :-(. Harm has solved them finally. Groove asked us to write some text about our company and solutions for Groove. Still editing at the moment with Tim. also made this screenshot of an Architect0r Groovetool., I like it !! (small version below) Building Architect0r tools for Groove will easily add stable functionality like navigating, zooming and even designing together and storing all project data in a secure environment. Hardly can wait for Groove 2.0

Interesting disussion found regarding flash interfaces and XML content using Radio Userland. An experimental Flash Blog can be found here. Made me think about enhance the Architect0r designtools with some Blog functionality. Could be great for maintaining project information or decisionlogs. Have to talk to Tim about it....

Nico just mailed me the last workingversion of the project he's working on. It's a small presentation we do for one of our bigger clients. Hotspots within this flashmovie will link to panoramaphoto's of this building. Although this project didn't require much interactivity, i like the axonometric display of a building and the zooming. The building itself is a showcase of a sophisticated modular building system. Last year we developed software for this Building system: MAX-21 Designtool and we used this particular building as our refence point. When visiting the building i liked seeing it finally in reallife after seen it hundreds of times on my notebook screen.
