Selling Groove

SB Chatterjee makes some observations about selling Groove on his weblog. Sam Gentile responds :

They just don't want to sell this product. For instance, I was just on .NET Rocks! last episode where I sold Groove. I send extrodinary things about it. NOT *one* single Groove blogger or person from the company linked to it or said a thing. Another point, instead of correcting my link in the Groove official blogs list from the old Radio one to my new one, they choose just to delete me. This is not how most companies do business.

Sorry Sam, I missed your interview. I also noticed that Groove is very slow in correcting links. I've mailed them a number of times about the fact that the location of my weblog was changed but they never fixed it or responded to my emails :-(

Patient Education, Home Health, and Weblogs

KC Bolton : If you piece together RSS news readers, weblogs, Groove, and the healthcare system what do you get? Here's what I can imagine........

Collaborative GIS

Michael Helfrich : Collaborative GIS

I'm convinced and excited about the prospects for collaborative GIS. Consumption of geospatial data is one thing. Having a tool that allows me to both consume and capture data when riding in a Chevy Suburban across the Iraqi desert is game-changing. Securely sharing that data when I reconnect to the net when I return to base camp saves lives.

Year of the Monkey

JiRong Zhou : About Avantmail and future of Zalba

Chinese's new year, the year of Monkey, is coming. I will be offfline for about 2 weeks. During the stay at my suburb home, I will revisit lots of my relatives and enjoy the time with my parents. Time for me to review the passing sheep year. I would like to post some shadow on Groove and future Zalba here.

FileSyncWiz 1.0

I completely forgot to mention Ashok's new Groovetool : FileSyncWiz. This tool offers some functionality that many people have been waiting for : Synchronizing files between Windows folders and a Groove files tool. The tool offers more useful functionality like version control and improved backups and there is more coming up.

Do-Hyki

Hugh Pyle : Some while ago Ray brought up the idea of a hyki, and I quickly hacked together an implementation, just to see what it felt like. Yesterday it seemed somehow the right time to pick this up again, so after a few hours' cleanup, here it is. "dohyki". A simple (wiki-like) collaborative note-taking application for small groups, which uses Groove, and runs in a Web browser.

Nice :-))

Working from home

Contra Costa Times : Scattered workers tough to watch

Seattle-based MTG Management Consultants LLC has a staff of 22 consultants who are based in four states and spend more than half their time on the road. They use collaboration software to compose reports, develop presentations and share ideas on the many projects the firm has going at any one time. The program MTG uses, made by Groove Networks Inc. of Beverly, Mass., not only allows them to work together seamlessly, but also allows the firm's senior officials to keep tabs on work in progress.

Groove and Siemens

InformationWeek : Collaboration System Cuts Unexpected Costs

Siemens' new E-Logistics Virtual Information System, based on technology from Groove Networks, gives all parties involved in a sale online access to information. Siemens expects that the system, which cost less than $1 million, will pay for itself within six to nine months, says Doug LaVigne, VP of logistics.

Phil Stanhope blogs again

Phil Stanhope, one of the most experienced Groove developers, has started a new weblog and company website . Make sure you check out his Powertools. I had the oppurtunity to see these tools in action the last time he visited me in the Netherlands and was pretty impressed by this collection of tools that fill a lot of the gaps in Groove 2.5 like IM and contact management.

Happy 2004

Although a bit late, I wanted to wish you all a hapy new year and i hope it will be a fruitfull year for all of you. Over the last few months i found it harder to update this weblog on a regular base and i wonder if i can find time and energy in 2004 to continue my reports on Groove as my interest in the product has been declining. I hope the release of Groove 3.0 in 2004 will change this again....
